The West Michigan Whitecaps won their 8th straight game and their 30th of the season on Wednesday when Matt Hall threw a five-hit, 3-0 shutout against the Great Lakes Loons at Dow Diamond in Midland, MI.
Will Allen is thrilling the crowds around the Midwest League. After his big day Tuesday, Allen homered in the second inning to get West Michigan on the board. David Gonzalez doubled home a run in the third inning and Jose Azocar scored another in the seventh on a double-steal, but the Whitecaps struck out 16 times in the game.
Hall threw six scoreless innings, earning his league-leading sixth victory (6-0) of the year and moving his ERA to a cool 0.72. Gerson Moreno earned his eighth save of the year, moving him ahead of teammate Jake Shull.
With the win, manager Andrew Graham‘s club moves 11 games above .500 at 30-19.
