Less than a month after the West Michigan Hawks folded up shop, an announcement was made today ensuring that semi-pro football will not be leaving the Cedar Springs area. The Cedar Springs Eagles, owned by Michael Henderson, are coming to town. The 2017 season will be the team’s inaugural season.
“I’m bringing over 40 years of coaching experience, which includes both high school and semi-pro football, as well as wrestling,” said Henderson. “My purpose for starting my own team is to bring respect and professionalism back to the semi-pro football level. One of the goals of this new team is to give serious, dedicated, coachable, and respectful athletes the avenue to be able to reach the next level in their football careers. Another goal of the team is to be able to contribute to various communities and charities in their attempts to reach their goals, as well. In conclusion, I feel very strongly that this will work because I share the same goals, commitment, and vision with the people associated with this team, and we are all dedicated to reaching our goals. We are looking for dedicated, serious, and fully committed athletes who are coachable to join this team. If interested, please be sure that you are able to dedicate 7-10 hours a week to the team.”
