Drive defeat Canton in 2OT to move to 2-0

Friday night in Ohio, the Grand Rapids Drive needed two extra frames to get the win on the road against the Canton Charge, 127-121, and move to 2-0 on the season.

Jordan Crawford scored 33 points and Nikola Jovanovic added 27 points and 17 rebounds as the Drive (2-0) beat the Charge (0-3) for the second time in as many chances.

Ray McCallum and newcomer Kevin Murphy each scored 21 points to help coach Rex Walters keep his coaching record perfect in his first season of NBA D-League basketball.

Canton’s Chris Evans led all scorers with 32 points and Michael Dunnigan notched 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Quinn Cook recorded a triple double but shot 6-of-25 from the field.

The Drive move on to play at against the Maine Red Claws, the NBADL affiliate of the Boston Celtics, in Portland on Sunday.
