Drive win third straight, beat Knicks on the road

The Grand Rapids Drive (25-24) used a 41-point 4th quarter to complete a 108-96 comeback win against the Westchester Knicks (19-30) on Thursday night, earning their third consecutive victory. The win guaranteed the team will finish at .500 or better this season, their first in Grand Rapids.

After the Knicks held the Drive to just 16 points in the third quarter, the Drive’s Big Three guards led the comeback in the team’s final road game of the season. Kevin Murphy, who finished with a game-high 32 points, Ray McCallum and Lorenzo Brown, who missed recording the third triple-double in Drive franchise history by one rebound (19 points, nine rebounds, 11 assists), all scored in double figures in the fourth quarter to lead Grand Rapids to the win. McCallum finished the game with 21 points.

Although the Drive have played with a lineup of players no taller than 6-foot-8, the GR squad pulled down 48 rebounds, including 14 offensive, on the night.

Former Michigan State Spartans guard Travis Trice scored 30 points to lead the Knicks.

With the team now one game above .500, the Drive host the Canton Charge in their season finale Friday night at the DeltaPlex.
