Early July Whitecaps recap

We’re having trouble keeping up with all the West Michigan Whitecaps games. I mean, they happen almost every day. And we’ve got On the Mitten Road, The 3-Point Turn podcast and, every once in a while, a vacation to take.

So, if you don’t mind the recap to catch up to the clock, here it goes…

7-2: Whitecaps win 3-2 over Dragons in Dayton, OH. Kyle Dowdy (5-1) picked up his fifth win.

7-3: Whitecaps and Dragons postponed due to rain.

7-4: Whitecaps beat Great Lakes Loons 8-5 with five-run fourth inning on 4th of July. Sandy Baez (4-7) picked up his fourth win

7-5:  Whitecaps win 15-10 over Loons. Yordy Cabrera (1-0) won in his debut with the Whitecaps.

7-6: Whitecaps lose 6-2 in 10 innings to Loons. Drew Smith (0-1) took the loss.

7-7: Whitecaps and Loons suspended in weather after one half inning. Game continuation date TBD.

7-8: TinCaps beat Whitecaps 3-2. Fernando Perez (3-4) took the loss. Former Detroit Tigers flamethrower Joel Zumaya visited fans at Fifth Third Ballpark as part of Tiger Fridays.

At whitecapsbaseball.com, selected game-worn emoji jerseys from June 30, 2016 are being auctioned off with proceeds going to the Whitecaps Community Foundation.

Frank Tanana will visit on July 22 for the next Tiger Friday.
