Joe Hicketts sent the fans home with a scowl when he scored his first professional goal 1:53 into overtime and the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Milwaukee Admirals 4-3 on Saturday at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee.
The Griffins (8-4-0-0) scored three times on their first seven shots, but needed a goal with 1:14 remaining in regulation to force overtime. Eddie Pasquale saved 34-of-37 shots, earning his first win in a Griffins uniform.
Colin Campbell (5:56), Mitch Callahan (9:42) and Louis-Marc Aubry (10:12) gave the Griffins a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Milwaukee (7-2-1-1) then put 19 shots on Pasquale in the 2nd. Kevin Fiala’s assists to Matt White and Adam Pardy brought the Admirals to within a goal. And Payerl put home another Fiala shot to tie the game with 1:42 left in regulation.
Grand Rapids gripped the extra point at the 1:53 mark when Hicketts’ pass toward Tomas Nosek deflected in to snap Milwaukee’s four-game winning streak..
