The Grand Rapids Griffins continued their winning ways Wednesday night defeating the Texas Stars for the 10th consecutive time with a 6-3 victory at Van Andel Arena.
The Griffins have dominated this series, winning every game since the 2013-14 season. This time, it was the power play squads that led Grand Rapids to victory. Martin Frk (3:58) and Matt Lorito (8:42) each scored goals in the first period to give GR a 2-0 advantage before the Stars added a short-handed goal to cut the deficit in half (17:15).
Matthew Ford, returning to the GR lineup, scored to grow the lead back to 3-1 at 17:39.
The Griffins gave up another short-handed goal at 8:44 of the second, only the sixth time in franchise history they’ve allowed two undermanned goals or more.
Tyler Bertuzzi, back from a stint in Detroit, scored at 12:53 to give the home team a 4-2 lead.
Colin Campbell scored at 15:12 of the third period and into an empty net with 2:10 left, bookending a goal by Texas.
