When the Grand Rapids Drive announced the trade that will send Nikola Jovanovic to the Westchester Knicks in exchange for their 2nd round pick in the 2017 NBA Development League Draft, our first question was, “does this help or hurt the team going forward?”.
In 24 games played (14 starts) with the Drive, Jovanovic averaged 9.5 points and 7.1 rebounds in 17.3 minutes per game. Jovanovic controlled the paint when Chris Horton or Detroit Pistons assignee Henry Ellenson weren’t on the floor for Grand Rapids. With forward/center Ramon Harris being more of stretch-four power forward, the Drive will have to rely on Horton, Ismael Romero and Chris Anderson for rebounding. With Ellenson being recalled to the parent club today, there is a good chance we could see a new face from the available player pool.
The Drive are on the road for their next two contests. The team will take on the Windy City Bulls tomorrow night in Chicago and travel to North Carolina for the matchup with the Greensboro Swarm on Saturday.
