K9K run coming June 20, 2016 to Riverside Park

Coming up on June 20, 2016 at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, MI, the Andrew Elliott Rusticus Foundation is hosting the 2nd annual K9K race in honor of the late Grand Rapids Police Officer Andrew Elliott Rusticus.

Training for an open K9 handler position with the GRPD, Rusticus suffered a heart attack and passed away on February 25, 2012.

The Foundation and K9K race are non-profits that support the GRPD Canine Unit Foundation, the MI Thin Blue Line and a scholarship at Trinity Christian College in Rusticus’ name.

You can visit K9Krace.com or find their Facebook page for more info.

The event on Saturday, June 20 consists of both a 3K and 9K courses. On the 3K course, it’s a run or a walk through Riverside Park with or without your four-legged friend(leashed, of course) starting on the north end. The 9K is a bit more challenging, for both you and your dog.

We hope to see you there!
