Lewis Robinson picked to take over as boss of GRFC men’s team

Grand Rapids Football Club announced today that Lewis Robinson has been hired as Director of Soccer Operations (read: Boss) and will take over the Men’s team for the 2018 season.

Robinson, who led the GRFC Women to a UWS title during their inaugural campaign this past summer, was also the Associate Head Coach for the Men during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.  He has been successful at every level of soccer in West Michigan, coaching in the high school ranks at Grandville, and is currently the Women’s Head Coach at Aquinas College and Director of Coaching for Midwest United.

During his time coaching at the Youth level with Midwest United, he has won 9 State Cups, 3 Regional Championships, and 2 National Championships. He is also on staff with MSYSA Coaching Education, and is a part of the US Soccer Training Center Coaching Staff.  He holds a USSF “A” License, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, and English FA Level 1 License.

Robinson commented “It is an honor and a privilege to be given this opportunity to become GRFC Head Coach. What the club has accomplished in the past few years is truly impressive, and I will work as hard as I possibly can to continue to improve the program. I am looking forward to getting to work and putting together a team that will represent GRFC, and the City of Grand Rapids in the right way, and hopefully create many more fantastic memories for this great club!”

“We are very excited that Lewis will be taking over the Men’s team for the 2018 season” said GRFC President Matt Roberts.  “He has a proven track record of building successful teams and we will do everything we can to support him and the players as we push to win the NPSL next year”.

Robinson’s first match in charge will be Saturday, October 14th at 5/3 Ballpark when the Boys in Blue take on La Raza All Stars to raise funds for local soccer enthusiast Rog Garner and the American Cancer Society.

With Lewis vacating the Women’s post, GRFC will be accepting resumes for the open position soon.
