If you haven’t had a chance to get out to Fifth Third Ballpark and see Matt Hall pitch yet this season, you may want to do so during his next start. There’s a good chance he won’t be staying in the Midwest League very long.
Thursday afternoon, Hall (5-0) struck out seven batters while giving up six hits and two walks over 6.2 innings of work as the West Michigan Whitecaps defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods 7-1 in front of a crowd of over 6,500.
The Whitecaps’ Derek Hill returned from the disabled list to single and score in the first inning. Hill would score again in the fifth before West Michigan stretched the lead to five in the sixth inning. They would add two more runs later and pitchers Toller Boardman and Gerson Moreno finished off Hall’s gas fire of Hot Rod bats for the win to move to 20-17, 3 games over .500 for the second time this season.
The ‘Caps take off for a seven game road series starting in Fort Wayne Friday night with
Detroit Tigers‘ pitcher Shane Greene getting the rehab assignment start.
Beau Burrows, a Tigers’ top prospect will pitch Saturday.
