Pistons assign Henry Ellenson and Michael Gbinije to Drive for start of D-League season

The Grand Rapids Drive welcomed both Henry Ellenson and Michael Gbinije to Beer City, USA earlier this week after the Detroit Pistons announced Sunday that the team had assigned the duo to the team’s NBA D-League affiliate right here in West Michigan.

Ellenson, a 6-foot-10 forward out of Marquette University in Milwaukee, has appeared in three games this season averaging 0.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 2.0 minutes per game. He was selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Gbinije, a 6-foot-5 guard from Syracuse, has appeared in three games this season averaging 0.7 points in 3.0 minutes per game. He was selected with the 49th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

The Drive open their 2016 season at home on Friday night at the DeltaPlex Arena at 7 p.m. against the Canton Charge.
