The Detroit Red Wings signed defenseman Brian Lashoff to a one-year contract extension.
Originally from Albany, N.Y., Lashoff has played in 268 career regular season games with the Grand Rapids Griffins dating back to the 2008-09 season. The 25-year-old, 6-foot-3, 220-pound defenseman played in 74 games with the Griffins last season, setting a career-high with 15 assists before playing in nine Calder Cup playoff games.
Lashoff has played 117 games in the NHL, including eight Stanley Cup Playoffs games, all with the Red Wings.
The Griffins begin the home portion of their 2016-17 season on Friday, Oct. 14 at Van Andel Arena.
