Red Wings extend Tomas Nosek for two years

Tomas Nosek is staying with the Detroit Red Wings organization for a couple more years.

On Friday, the Wings announced that the 6-foot-2, 210-pound 23-year-old center/forward from the Czech Republic has signed a two-year contract with the team.

Nosek was originally signed by Detroit back in June of 2014 after competing in his native Czech Republic for 129 games with Pardubice HC from 2011-14. He played in 70 games with the AHL‘s Grand Rapids Griffins this year, scoring 15 goals and earning 30 points with a +/- of 13 and even scored a goal during the Calder Cup playoffs.

On December 26, 2015, the became the 152nd Griffins alumnus to make the leap to the NHL, debuting against the Nashville Predators in a 3-2 win.

Griffins fans hope to see a whole lot more of Nosek in the coming season.
