A season-high crowd of 6,782 fans packed into Fifth Third Ballpark on Saturday night, but left a bit disappointed and the West Michigan Whitecaps lost 10-2 to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Wisconsin scored a pair of runs in the second off an infield single and a wild pitch from ‘Caps starter Beau Burrows. The Timber Rattlers then scored a run in each of the next two innings before David Gonzalez‘s RBI-double to get the ‘Caps on the board at 4-1.
Wisconsin’s Jake Gatewood recorded a controversial inside-the-park homerun, leading to ‘Caps manager Andrew Graham being ejected for arguing the call, after Derek Hill caught a deep fly ball but missed the flip to Cam Gibson.
Burrows (1-2) took his second loss, allowing four runs on nine hits.
