Whitecaps fall to Hot Rods in Wednesday matinee

Jordan Smith retired the first 13 batters he faced but the West Michigan Whitecaps couldn’t figure out the Bowling Green Hot Rods‘ pitching in a 6-2 loss on Wednesday afternoon at Fifth Third Ballpark.

The Hot Rods broke a scoreless tie with a three-run fifth inning, scored three more in the eighth as the Hot Rods hung on to end West Michigan’s three-game winning streak.

The Whitecaps fall to 19-17 and will conclude their seven-game homestand with a Thursday morning BCBS School Kids Day contest beginning at 11:00am. Matt Hall gets the start for West Michigan.
